I've talked about this in a different post, but there's only so much they can do with AI. At least that's what I gleaned when I was hoping to plan out for a Dragon-team like I always did in these games. Very few of the dragons work good on their own (I think only Goodra and that missile one) and the others would really love to have set-ups or Doubles for them as their stats, movesets, and typings seem to be rather all over the place now. It really is refreshing to see a different way of going about Dragons other than sheer brute force, but at the same time when you look at what Dragons are available you'd realize why Dragons now have to rely on support from other types to prop them up. But I suppose that would make him stronger than the undefeated champion Leon with his undefeated Charizard so Gamefreak didn't want that. I think he'd be a lot better if Garchomp were in the game with his Sand Veil as Duraludon seems to suffer from a sad moveset where not many choices are available to capitalize on his SAtk. I do remember he got off a Sandstorm on me though so I'd consider his new team a dual weather one (Drought/Sandstorm). His Drought lead links to Turtanator and I think one of his mons has Flamethrower? so it seems to be more of a Grass counter which is the weakness of his support mons in his Sandstorm team. All that animation work on him didn't go to waste. He's also one of the more expressive Gym Leaders too. no perceivable advantage other than making his Turtanator stronger maybe, the fact that we got a gym leader that has perfected a specific battle strategy instead of just a single type is really creative and I hope to Arceus we get more of this kind of design for gym leaders in the future. And while its a shame during the tournament he replaces his Sand Stream lead off for a Drought lead off for. Yes, dragons are the headliners of his team, but its also a sand storm team. Really, the final gym leader is dragon AGAIN?īut boy was I in for a surprise when I learned that Raihan actually wasn't a dragon type leader: He's a WEATHER leader. When he's first introduced as the Dragon Gym Leader during the opening ceremony, I rolled my eyes so hard they nearly popped out of my skull. Hot damn, Raihan was not what I was expecting. I'm just going to gush about how awesome Raihan's design is here, so if you don't want to be spoiled on anything then please leave. Total would be 12 Trainers and while Raihan would still be Sandstorm orientated he'd be the final exam to his gym utilizing all the tactics the player has learnt about from the Gym Trainers.R/pokemon is the place for most things Pokémon on Reddit-TV shows, video games, toys, trading cards, you name it! You do this three times, first puzzle is a 3x1 of rotating blocks, second is a 3x3 and third is a 4x4 with increasing obstacles and maybe some Dragon-Type Pokemon hiding around that attack the player or mess with the blocks (imagine a Dreepy appears and rolls a block if the player isn't near that block so the player either has to work around the Dreepy or defeat it/catch it).

The gym should've used a sort of puzzle element where depending on how the player solved the puzzle (perhaps something to do with rotating blocks to align a symbol of a weather pattern) would determine which trainer they were required to fight (after they defeat the mandatory one the other three would be optional additional battles).

for rain and equivalents for Hail, Sunny and Sandstorm. Also he should've had a Gym that focused around weather with multiple trainers for each weather type showing different advantages and tactics of weather like Water-Type, Thunder/Hurricane, Rain Abilities, etc. Pretty cool Gym although his trainers and him needed more Pokemon, overall he should've had 5 Pokemon (3 Dragon, 2 Non-Dragon) and the trainers should've had Teams of 3 and 4 with a Dragon-Type Majority (but not all Dragon-Types).
